What's New At The Knitting Hut?

We have had a very busy few weeks at The Hut with the launch of our website and our weekend at The Woburn Oyster Festival. We are now making plans for National Knitting Week, which kicks off on October 14th and we have a special event which should be great fun! There are also changes to our Click and Clack sessions, so read on for lots of information about what is going on at The Hut! Hope to see you soon, Sue

Window Watch...

We have a real treat in the window this month, a beautiful pure alpaca shirt jacket using Blue Sky Alpaca's Sport weight Alpaca. Andrea has knitted this jacket in stunning purple and blue. We were also pleased to see a great jumper pattern in this month's Vogue Knitting Magazine pointed out to us by a customer using the sport weight alpaca.. This jacket is knitted using the yarn double and so gives a lovely firm texture.

Holiday Knit ...

Have you been on holiday and taken your knitting? If so, send us a picture and we will feature you on our new page on the website which will be featured soon, Extreme Knitting! Here is a not so extreme picture of Andrea and her friend Jane on the beach! Can you beat it with one of your own? The challenge is on!

What WIP have you got?

For those of you that don't know, WIP stands for Work in Progress! It seems that everyone has at least two things on the go at any one time and one of my customers is currently working on five different scarves! How many WIPs have you got? I am making a Lana Grossa coat in Carina and have nearly finished my second of thirteen balls it takes to knit and a knitted doll which I want to make three of as Christmas Presents AND a pair of silk and alpaca gloves!

Spirit and Moonglow...

We have two new yarns to tempt you this month. Spirit and Moonglow are both from Patons. Spirit is a fabulous Mohair mix yarn with a self striping shade change and Moonglow is a great textured chunky yarn with a hint of a glimmer due to the addition of a silver thread. The tensions for these two yarns are the same so the patterns are interchangeable. Double the options! There are some lovely patterns including a shrug cardigan and a lovely jumper with a pocket on the front. It is great to see really fashionable yarns and patterns from a British company and the response we have had from customers about both yarns so far has been fabulous. We are also stocking Softy which is great for a scarf or bag pattern and really lives up to it's name! If you are looking for something a bit different then there is a great tie-cardi pattern designed for Softy that will give you a fabulous winter look.

We are very excited this month as our website of the month is ours! Visit The Knitting Hut online and as well as the online shop you will find The Gallery, all our events listings and more! We even have a Blog which is updated regularly and a section with free patterns for you to download and use. We would love some feedback on the site, which is still a work in progress with more stock to add and a few sections which need tweaking so if you visit, please let us know what you think and leave a comment in our guestbook, any feedback about the shop would be gratefully received too as we are always working to improve what we do!
