Festive Greetings from the Hut - December '06

What's New At The Knitting Hut?

We've got a great newsletter for you this month with lots of great information and a free pattern for Christmas. We've also got our twelve days of Knitting Hut favourites!  We'd like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a peaceful New Year, with best wishes, Sue

Window Watch - Deck the Hut with boughs of Holly ....

We are very proud to tell you that our Christmas window won 3rd prize in the Woburn Sands Christmas Window competition!  Grateful thanks go to Dawn who knitted masses of holly leaves and berries, despite having Flu and to Heather who quickly ran up the great child's cardigan our bear is wearing.  Also in the window is the fabulous Lana Grossa jacket knitted in Airwool.  It is knitted on 9-10mm needles so knits up really quickly and is a really stunning design!

Christmas Kits

We all love Rooster Yarns at The Knitting Hut and have been stocking their kits for a while now.  We now have the much sought after Christmas Kits.  They are fabulous and include a great Reindeer, Snowman, Fairy and a Christmas Tree garland all using the fabulous Almerino yarn.   Why not take advantage of our special offer and knit one up for Christmas!

Twelve days of Christmas!

"On the first day of Christmas my truelove gave to me...Bamboo double pointed knitting needles"

We love these as an alternative to the steel needles as they feel great to knit with and also have the advantage of being light so when you get down to just a few stitches on your needles you don't turn your work round and suddenly find you've lost a needle!

"On the second day of Christmas my truelove gave to me...a sock wool glove pattern"

Why not try something different and make a pair of gloves or mittens using the self patterning sock yarn, they look great and knit up really quickly and are not as difficult to make as you would think!

"On the third day of Christmas my truelove gave to me...Feza Scarf yarn"

This is definitely a Knitting Hut favourite, the combination of this yarn and our free scarf pattern is a real winner and a great present.

"On the fourth day of Christmas my truelove gave to me...Blue Pebble jewellery"

With fabulous necklaces, bracelets and earrings, this range is beautiful.  The signature ranges are button jewellery and sterling silver wire hearts, both available on a choice of colours of thread and different lengths.

"On the fifth day of Christmas my truelove gave to me...blue sky bulky yarn"

This hand-dyed Alpaca and Merino yarn is a real favourite here.  We have a free pattern for a scarf which takes only 1 hank, soon to appear on our website.  There are also some great Blue Sky patterns.

"On the sixth day of Christmas my truelove gave to me...bamboo bag handles"

The bamboo bag handles we stock tick all the boxes, they are well priced, look great with a knitted bag and are even Fairtrade!  With just a rectangle of knitting in one of the great textured scarf yarns you can make a gorgeous bag.

"On the seventh day of Christmas my truelove gave to me...clover stitch holders"

This is a fabulous invention!  How many times have you put stitches onto a holder only to find that when you take them off you are at the wrong end of the work to start knitting and have to mess about transferring the stitches between needles to get them the right way round?  Well now you don't have to as these stitch holders open both ends, what a great idea!

"On the eighth day of Christmas my truelove gave to me...pom pom makers"

Why didn't they make these when I was a child?  No more threading wool through a tiny hole, with the pom pom maker you do it in two halves and then join them together, much, much easier!  Great for children or why not finish off a scarf with a few pompoms.

"On the ninth day of Christmas my truelove gave to me...a yarn cutter"

Yet another Clover product, but we love them!  This clever pendant is actually a yarn cutter.  Thread it onto a length of ribbon and attach to your knitting bag and you'll never be searching for those elusive scissors again!

"On the tenth day of Christmas my truelove gave to me...knitting wire"

We have recently started stocking knitting wire and love it!  We have a free pattern for a necklace and bracelet which are really easy to make and use just one reel of wire and one pot of beads.  Great if you fancy making a small project you can complete quickly.

"On the eleventh day of Christmas my truelove gave to me...A Knitting Hut Gift Voucher"

So you can treat yourself to your next project!

"On the twelfth day of Christmas my truelove gave to me...five minutes peace"

You deserve some time to knit after all the hustle and bustle of getting ready for Christmas!
