What's New At The Knitting Hut?

We have been very busy over the last month or so and have lots to tell you in this edition of the newsletter.  Thank you to all those who have offered to receive the newsletter by email instead of post, it has helped reduce our costs.  If you are able to receive the newsletter by email please let us know, as the cost of printing and sending over 250 copies is very high.  If you ever wondered where self patterning sock wool comes from, check out the BLOG on our website as we may have found the answer!  If you don’t have access to the internet, pop into the shop and take a look at our pictures.

 Summer Opening Times

We wanted to let you know well in advance that from the 1st June our opening times will be changing.  This is partly seasonal and also to help me as my pregnancy progresses and it’s harder to keep the pace up!  The opening times will be as follows:

(Sunday & Monday Closed)
Tuesday    10am – 4pm
Wednesday    10am – 4pm
Thursday    10am – 2pm
Friday        10am – 4pm
Saturday        10am – 4pm

Window Watch

Everyone is lusting over the fabulous Silk Shrug cardigan which Elaine has knitted and we have in the window.
The pattern is by one of our favourites,  Blue Sky Alpacas and is knitted in their Alpaca and Silk yarn.

The cost to knit the shrug is £47.60, so not as much as you may think for this stunning garment worked in
luxurious yarn.  The shrug is knitted sideways from cuff to cuff and the collar is knitted on a circular needle.

 Click and Clack Branches Out!

We are very excited to announce that from May we will be holding two Click and Clack meetings at Borders Book Store in Milton Keynes!  We will meet in Starbucks and the session times will be the same as for our Knitting Hut and Ojays Click and Clack meetings.  In order to make dates easier to remember we will now be holding our shop evening sessions on Thursday evenings on a monthly basis.  The sessions will run as follows:

First Thursday of the month – Knitting Hut – 7pm – 9pm (June 7th)
     Second Thursday of the month – Borders – 10am – 12md  (June 14th)
             Third Thursday of the month – Borders – 7pm – 9pm  (May 17th, June 21st)

                            Fourth Thursday of the month – Ojays – 10am – 12md  (May 24th, June 28th)

There will be a £4 charge per person for sessions held at The Knitting Hut and Ojays Coffee Shop to include refreshments.  There is no charge for the Borders group, you can buy refreshments from Starbucks and will also receive a 10% discount voucher to use on the day in Borders!.

We look forward to seeing you at one (or more!) of our groups.

Great yarn, New Colours!

We have just increased our range of Blue Sky Alpacas Dyed Cotton that is now available in some great new shades.  I am just starting the Baby Hoodie for my youngest daughter in the colours shown on the pattern (see right) and can’t wait to start the Eyelet cardigan for after the birth of my baby!  If you would like to have a look at all the patterns available from Blue Sky, either pop into the shop or visit www.blueskyalpacas.com to view all the pattern information.

 Knitting and Stitching Show 2007

It may be early but we’re already making plans to visit The Knitting and Stitching Show at Alexandra Palace.  Last year’s trip was a great success!  Twenty five of us had a great day out and came home with lots of great purchases and inspiration.

If you would like to join us this year we will be going on Sunday 14th October.  The show is open from 10am to 5pm and we are hoping to keep the cost of the trip (to include travel and ticket price) as low as we can.

Everyone will also be given a Knitting Hut goody bag to take with them for all those essential purchases!  Please register your interest by email or telephone.  We can then make firm arrangements and let you know the cost of the trip.

Summer patterns from Lana Grossa

We are now stocking the new range of summer yarns from Lana Grossa.  They look and feel great and contain all the luxury fibres, silk, linen and this season’s must have yarn, Bamboo.  We love Asia which is a Bamboo and Cotton double knit yarn and also Salina, again containing Bamboo and is a tape yarn.  There are some fabulous patterns in Magazine no 33 for the Summer and also the new booklet with patterns for the range of cotton yarns from Lana Grossa.  You can view all the images from the pattern books online at www.lanagrossa.com and there is also a free pattern every month (all the old patterns are still listed) that is worth taking a look at.  Check out their ‘Model of the Month’ for this month’s and previous patterns.

Namaste Knitting Bags

Have you seen the great new knitting bags we are stocking?  They are so versatile that we have sold two as handbags and the Messenger bag is being used as a stylish laptop bag by one of our customers!  They are made by Namaste and are available in a wide range of gorgeous colours.  The Jetsetter bag has a number of pockets inside and the straps are long enough to be able to wear the bag over your shoulder.
The roomy Messenger bag  has pockets for all those knitting essentials as well as a zipped gusset so you can enlarge the bag to wedge just one more project in!  Both bags sell for £56.50.
Namaste also have some great knitting needle shells for storing those more delicate needles that are available in colours which co-ordinate with the bags and make a great, reasonably priced present!
